Freedom Through Figurative – Sculpture WorkshopApril 2010

6 week session - beginner/intermediate

The goal of this workshop is to study the figurative form and moving forward to create a work that takes the sculptor beyond striving for the perfect likeness but instead creating a free and spontaneous form.  We will look at going beyond the obvious and instead work towards uncovering the human form in a more abstract approach.

How we visualize form and how we interpret that vision will be the base for this workshop.  Students will be introduced to various tools and techniques through basic principles and we will cover various techniques of hand building.

The search for movement balance and contrast within shape, will be emphasized along with exploring the many different approaches to creating a three dimensional sculpture.  There will be a group critique at the end of each session.  This workshop is to inspire and awaken your creative core.
